To me, this fisherman is no different than an otter wrapped in kelp banging away at an abalone shell. They both represent an ideal relationship with the natural world: unintrusive, harmonious, respectful, and interconnected. This species in its natural habitat pulls food from the ocean to feed his family and his soul. I shot this with a grainy film to give the composition a less literal, more iconic feel. |
